Mexico's tourism revenue reached $13.289 billion in 2008
MEXICO CITY, Feb. 22 (Xinhua) -- Mexico's tourism revenue reached 13.289 billion U.S. dollars in 2008, up 3.4 percent from that in 2007, Tourism Minister Rodolfo Elizondo said on Sunday.
Mexico received 22.6 million foreign visitors in 2008, up 5.9 percent from that in 2007, Elizondo said.
Foreign visitors spent an average 760 US dollars per person, up 1.4 percent from that in 2007, the minister added.
Hotels in Mexico received 62 million local tourists in 2008, an increase of 1.4 percent over that in 2007.
The ministry said the positive tourism balance in 2008 amounted to 4.763 billion dollars, an increase of 6.4 percent over 2007.
